"that was one of the first things that came to my mind was it possibly the body of the missing boy or someone else" the answer came today from

body of the 18-year-old student who disappeared while riding his bike from home october 22nd. friends, classmates and teachers passed out flyers and organized search parties in the following weeks to find some clue. they knew sed liked to fish and spend time in the greenbelt areas around the river. dozens of people looked. one search organizer believes the extensive effort was a comfort to sed's family. "it means so muchcho the family to have the support of everyone in waterloo and outside waterloo as well" authorities had searched the river before but found no sign of the missing teen. investigators will have to wait for lab reports before knowing more becausese right now there's no way to tell if the death was an accident or something else. "there were no visible signs of trauma but again the cause of death will be determined after the autopsy report is complete " police also say they haven't determined where sed entered the river.

monday. have a great night! tonight: mostly clear low: 34-40 winds: sw 5-15tomorrow: slight chance of rain late high: 51-57 winds: se 5-15 bruce and beth... the cedar rapids school district says it doesn't agree with certain parts of a report ououining how students and teachers and cocotruction workers may have been exposed to asbestos. the department of natural resources investigated renovations at washington high school and said the carcinogenic wasn't properly contained. today, the school district released a statement saying it took the proper precautions. the district also said students weren't in the area where asbestos was exposed. president barack obama signed a major e ecation reform bill today. the new law turns more decision-making power back to the states. the bi-partisan rewrite of the no child left behind program changes the way districts are evaluated. it also changes how

improve. state budget experts predict iowa isn't going to take in as much money as originally expected. the revenue estimating conference today lowered iowa's revenue projects for this year and next. it predicted the state will take in just over seven billion dollars this fiscal year. that's nearly nine million less than the group's october estimate. for next year, the conference says state revenue is likely to grow four percent to seven point 33 billion dollars. that's about 21 million less than earlier projections. the group says the changes are due to falling farm income from lower corn and soybean prices. today the u-s senate passed a short-term spendidi bill that will keep the federal government operating until december 16th. the house is expected to approve it tomorrow. this gives lawmakers more time to agree on a one- point- one trillion dollar spending plan to finance federal agencies next year.

welcome people of all religions s the country. trump has called for temporarily banning muslims from entering the country after attacks in the u-s and overseas. the senate judiciary committee voted 16 to four on an amendment that says barring people froro entering the u-s based on religion would be un-american. the four republicans who opposed it included presidential candidate ted cruz. students and faculty at cornell college in mount vernon have s srted a conversation to end islamophobia. today, the college welcomed clergy from different religions who spoke about peace and tolerance. one school administrator said cororll wants muslim students on campus to feel welcome. "our goal is to spread information, true information, about islam. give our students a platform to discuss their feelings, their fears and also their hopes and create peace on campus. we're working to dispell rumors and fears." organizers say this is the first

numbers today. a total of more than 43- hundred claims were filed with the g-m compensation fund. however only 9 percent were deemed eligible for payments. those included claims for 124 deaths and 275 injuries. the fund says 90-percent of victims accepted g-m's offers. an investigation found the switches in older model cars can slip out of the "run" position and cut off the engine. g-m said in september the ignition-switch scandal cost to company more than 5 billion dollars. japanese brands are dominating the insurance industry's ranking of the safety vehicles for 2016. the insurance institute for highway safety says that 48 vehicles earned its highest rating for top safety pick plus that's up from 33 last year. toyota, honda and subaru had the most winners. the chrysler 200 was the only domestic car to earn the top designation. the national pork producers council is urging congress to repeal

"country of origin" labeling. the mandatory labeling means producers must indicate the country where animals were born, raised, and slaughtered. earlier this week, the world trade organization decided country of origin labeling hurts the livestock industries in canada and mexico. and the w-h-o decided this week that those countries can start imposing an import tax worth more than a billion dollars on u-s products. in june the u-s house voted to repeal the labeling law, but the senate hasn't taken it up. the sierra club says it doesn't think the iowa utilities board should rush its decision on whether to approve the bakken pipeline. the company that wants to build, dakota access, wants the decision by early january. but the sierra club says the utilities board should have more time. the proposed pipeline would run through four states. in iowa i would cut diagonally through 18 counties. the sierra club says it opposes the controversial pipeline because of

dubuque county is transforming the 150-year- old jail building into office space. the dubuque county historical society previously controlled the building at theheorner of eighth street and central avenue in dubuque. but starting january first, the county plans to house its i-t department and veterans affairs commission in the old jail building. of course, that means it'll need some renovations. kcrg t-v nine dubuque bureau

wiedemann joins us live tonight from the old jail. katie, what kind of restrictions is the county facing for the remodedesince it's a historic landmark? a few years ago the county received a federal grant to pay or renovations to the outside of this buildidi. part of that agreement meant the historic building needs to be open to the public for at least 12 hours per year. first built in 18-57, this was originally the dubuque county jail. in 19-75 the dubuque art association converted the old building into a history museum which featured dubuque county artiticts. now, supervisoror plan to use the exhibit portion of the museum as office space for two county departments. they'll convert the historic jail cell area into a county conference room. however, because it's a national historic ace, they're not allowed to change or remove the old cells. supervisors say making these changes is part of an
